Design Interior Tips for Small Spaces

small-spacesSmall spaces have great potential when it comes to house interior design. Positioning a potted plant in front of the fireplace mantle during the warmest time of the year is a great use of that space. Angle your furniture and use the extra space to display an indoor tree or palm. Light bare wood is always the best and beautiful of option for giving a small room a larger appearance. Place a lighter area rug on top of the existing carpet. Or in the case of a dark linoleum find a light bamboo or Berber to bring out the light.

Get a large box, basket or bag and sift through those small accents. Too many little things sitting around a small room will clog of the room’s space quickly. Heavy, bulky window treatments not only block the limited light in your small room but are also space hoggers. Free those windows by using shades, blinds or even shutters. There are some gorgeous options to be made or purchased at your favorite house interior design store. Have a little extra money to spend, have your blinds custom designed in fabrics that compliment the rest of your room’s decor. Though a variety of color breaks up a large house, too much color in a small one will work against your already limited amount of space. It is best to paint all the walls one color or use a similar pallet hue for small subtle changes from room to room.

Pull in that limited light with the use of mirrors positioned directly across from a window. Use semi gloss paint to reflect the light and keep your furniture polished and your appliances clean. Then, bring in those extra fabrics in your accents to provide some visual depth and emotional interest. Have fun with this part of your house interior design project!

Colors Tips on Interior Design

interior-colorsAs well as we know choosing interior colors from room to room for walls is very important. Remember that color will affect the size of the room. Dark colors will make a room seem smaller and lighter shades will seem to enlarger a room. A brighter ceiling will take a low ceiling and take it up a whole story. Use color to change the feel of the home you live in. With the household present, start off by listing each room with the family in mind, and the wall colors you’re going to change.

See if there are any colors which might appear better when placed adjacent side by side. If a color is discarded by the household then you may wish to paint the room in two complimentary shades. An alternate option would be to color one of the rooms in stripes. Paint the ceiling in the liter shade and the walls in the darker color.

What would please your household? While you sofa will not go inside your bathroom, its primary color seems an easy decision to carry over to your bathroom redecoration. It seems to be simple to choose colors from outside your bathroom to put into your bathroom.

Choosing prominent colors from other parts of your house will give your bathroom a harmonized effect. Your interior design choices for your walls may mean a contrast in colors in the room for a power up of drama. If you want to shy away from an over abundance of color paint only the one wall that you choose and make the other wall a low key wall with a beige tone.
